Marco Garau’s Magic Opera
The Golden Pentacle (2021)
Symphonic Power Metal | Italia.
Magic, speed and technique
A new Power Metal band emerges like a giant, claiming a place among the greats. With a fantasy story, based on the fight between two powerful wizards and the infinite war between good and evil, this Symphonic Power Metal album takes us into a magical world.
Magic Opera with Italian nationality, releases its first LP The Golden Pentacle (2021), really the true name of the band is Marco Garau´s Magic Opera; but who is Marco Garau? He is the keyboardist of the Power Metal band Derdian, I just hope and you meet them and if not, then I am sure that the name of Magic Opera will remain in your head from today.
With a lineup of six members, Enrico Pistolese (Bass), Salvatore Giordano (Drums), Matt Krais (Guitars), Gabriel Tuxen (Guitars), Marco Garau (Keyboards) and Anton Darusso (Voice), are the makers of this debut, full of melodic arrangements, guitar and keyboard solos and a voice which give the project a trademark.
With eleven songs averaging five minutes, we have a long album, spanning just over an hour, which apparently could be long for an album of this genre; however, there is no monotony or linearity in their songs, you are about to hear a new era of Power Metal.

1. The Golden Pentacle
2. Elixir of Life
Melodic beginning at 5 notes per bars, that is repeated two times, with a change in the third. Elixir of Life is a song with a 4/4 musical structure, with an impressive introduction, where the guitar with extended notes sings to enter the deep in the forest, but not before resolving with a note that ends the musical introduction figure.
The verse is always accompanied by a guitar and bass riff, while the drums take control of the tempo and the keyboard strings effects give depth to such a magnificent voice.
The presence of keyboards is very important, because they give magic to the song, becoming protagonists. The chorus of this single feels heavily heralded by some pauses in the previous bars, but it is certainly a brilliant moment carried by fast riffs, keyboard arrangements and a fascinating voice.
The solos, as is already known, the classic square lead effect on the keyboard running through the five octaves of the keyboard, but now making some combinations with the melodic figures of the song’s introduction, to finally have an epic ending; the result is Elixir of Life was found.
3. Keepers Of The Night
4. Never-Ending Pain
Classical beginning, with a guitar solo and a riff that accompanies it along with a drums at full gallop, while a riff with some variations allows the entry of the verse.
In the background, string effects accompany the voice as a shadow, while the melody runs at a semi-slow speed. Near the middle of the song there is an interlude to the sound of ballet, which gives a total freshness to the song, to later take a turn and convert it into totally heavy; which serves for the union of a verse with the presence of guttural voices, which are supported by synth / strings effects, to give us that ballet-like melody, shows all the influence of various genres of these musicians.
Finally the supremacy struggle between the guitar and keyboard solos is present, to give access to the last verses and to get closer to the end of this composition.
5. Fight For The Victory
6. The Secret Of The Sea
7. The Sacred Legacy
8. Free Again
9. The Other Side
10. Thief of Soulse
11.Until The End of Time

Conclusión
Amazing, so is how my conclusion could end; but not.
Magic Opera is an album that shows no weaknesses, strong wherever you want to see or listen it, the presence of guitars, a drums that keep time and musical nuances well in the notes, an important role in the keyboard, a bass that is always there to give soul to the notes that the guitar cannot reach and a phenomenal voice that dazzles style and fits perfectly in this project.
Without a doubt Marco Garau, made an exhaustive search for musicians, until finding the right ones, this results in having great compositions; within this album there are still the classic elements of the genre of spectacular guitars and keyboards, moments of elegance for the voice, and in addition to this some moments with a guttural voice that give a freshness to the song.
I could be exaggerated, but this album is a modern work of Power Metal, it is an album worthy of admiration, however, the only negative aspect would be that it is necessary to listen more than once as there are several arrangements that can go unnoticed, and they are hidden within the songs, it could be that for future works, they are in the foreground, such as some strings or synth effects that help give depth to the voice but are heard so far away that seem to be being interpreted to a music dynamic in pianissimo or very soft, besides that there are few changes in the musical structure, that is, they do not take risks and handle the known structure (Intro-Verse-PreChorus-Chorus-Solos-Verse-Ending), perhaps they could experiment a little more.
At the end of all The Golden Pentacle is one of the best Power Metal albums of the month (February) and possibly this year, we will have to wait, without a doubt, an almost perfect album.
